RSAF EW Ground Training Instructor

Job description

Draken is recruiting for a permanent Electronic Warfare (EW) Ground Training Instructor at the main operating base in Dhahran, KSA.

As EW Ground Training Instructor your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead delivery and development of all EW ground training syllabi.
  • Deliver EW ground training at MOB and for monthly detachments in Kingdom (expect to travel one week in four/five within Kingdom).
  • Provide standardisation of assistant ground training instructors (Line EW operators)
  • Assist with the development of airborne training syllabi and the EW playbook airborne profiles/serials by providing SME input to the EW Training Manager, alongside the Senior EWO and Senior Captain, thus linking ground academic training to airborne profiles.
  • Feed EW Training Manager and Co-Ordination Cell with up to date syllabi and playbook information to end user units.
  • Assist Draken line aircrew and EW Training Manager with delivery of Draken capabilities briefings to RSAF Electronic Warfare Flying Training (EWFT) end user units.
  • Provide information in advance to the delegated Mission Support Co-ordinator and lead crew on delivery of following week’s ground training (3 day EW introductory or ½ day EW refresher courses to RSAF flying crews).
  • With the Co-ordination Cell, arrange the delivery of ground training support material and completion certificates.
  • With the Co-ordination Cell and IT support, manage the availability of ground training aids.
  • Through the EW Training Manager, provide the 6-monthly ground training plan for approval/endorsement at the RSAF semi-annual contract/programming meeting. This plan is to encompass programming for the delivery of the 2-week RSAF EWO course, annual 1 day RSAF EW Symposium, and routine 3 day EW introduction and ½ day refresher courses aligned with the live EW Flying Training programme.
  • Maintain and actively promote a Safety first approach. Operate at Draken Europe in accordance with the SHE standards. Identify where the SHE Standards are applicable, generate suitable risk assessments and apply safe systems of work to appointed operations/tasks.
  • Uphold the Draken Europe Vision, Mission, Customer Promise, and Core Values and Principles.
  • Any other duties that are reasonably requested by Draken Europe management within the capability of the incumbent.

As an EW Ground Training Instructor your Skills, Qualification and Knowledge should include:

Personal Skills/Abilities 

  • Strong focus on delivery excellence of all ground training courses
  • Ability to prioritise and conduct complex planning effectively.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, modifying style to meet cultural expectations in Kingdom, contractual obligations set by the Prime, and business outcomes.
  • A focus on customer and consumer requirements to ensure excellence in service delivery.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity.

Educational and Vocational Qualifications 

  • Ex-military aircrew at SO2/OF3 or higher, preferably with a background in delivery of technical ground training to aircrew
  • Essential: DSAT SQEP instructor background
  • Desirable: Intermediate Command and Staff Course qualified.
  • RAF AWC EWO course and ideally NATO Air Advanced EW Course

Knowledge

  • Experienced DSAT SQEP
  • Suitable background experience in Air EW matters to be credible to the military customer base.
  • Previous experience as front line military aircrew with demonstrable experience of using EW systems.
  • Ideally aircrew with a past EWI/QWI/AWI/QAS qualification. This would enable a part time flying role in support of the Senior Pilot or EWO.
  • Previous experience of operating with commercial defence industry partners and/or operating experience in KSA or the Gulf States is desirable.
