The Role

We are currently recruiting for a key role in our organisation – VP of Engineering.

This position requires someone with strong leadership skills with a proven track record of establishing a JUST organisational culture, driving change and performance.

The successful candidate will have an open and transparent style of leadership to encourage reporting of issues and concerns while seeking to empower and encourage teams to identify and act on opportunities for improvement.

They will also have the ability to take firm action and stand their ground on issues that may be unpopular, and be confident engaging in challenging conversations where needed.

Role Purpose

Accountable for the operational output of the engineering teams across all bases, ensuring safe and compliant operations are consistently delivered that meet regulatory and customer requirements.

As P145 and Part M Accountable Manager, ensure teams are competent, appropriately staffed with the correct tooling, training and facilities to perform their tasks and that costs of delivery are accurately captured in budgets and contracts so that the business can deliver profitable, safe and compliant operations.

Accountable for the strategic leadership and development of the Draken Europe Engineering Value Stream on an international basis ensuring processes are efficient and aligned throughout the function and workforce planning meets the operational needs of the business as it develops its growth plan.

Develops the Engineering strategy, to maximise medium and long term profitability of the Value Stream while creating more customer value, continuously seeking to enhance performance. Owns resource planning, performance management, career development and best practice of the team within budget to employ the most efficient and effective ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Engineering Value Team activities including:

o Design

o Continuing Airworthiness Management

o Maintenance

o Supply Chain

• Be accountable for the successful execution (safe & compliant delivery to cost, quality and on schedule) of all Engineering activity and their contribution to effective service delivery.

• Be accountable for the P&L, Balance Sheet and delivery of KPI’s throughout the Engineering value stream.

• Be accountable for the management, development and welfare of all Engineering staff covering morale, recruitment, selection, talent development, pay and performance management and succession planning with a key focus on resilience

• Lead and manage the implementation of the business wide Engineering priorities, ensuring that the investments align with agreed roadmaps, priorities and budgets.

• Lead the discussions regarding functionality of the products, integration with existing products, and ease of operations.

Experience / skills / qualifications

• Extensive operational experience in an aviation leadership role with sound knowledge of the Civilian and Military Regulations

• Strong commercial focus.

• Expert in delivering transformation and change using developed methodologies

• Critical thinker- can challenge assumptions

• Excellent programme management skills, highly organised

• Excellent team leadership and development skills

• Good motivator with the ability to inspire people

• Can connect issues across functions and value streams

• Effective influencer across all levels of the organisation

• Excellent passive and active communicate skills

• Understands and champions equality, diversity and inclusion. Identifies, values and respects individual differences.

• Experience in a change management role where transformational improvement and efficiency has been delivered while maintaining the highest levels of safety, operational performance, customer and staff engagement.
