Ground Support Services Engineer (Aviation)

Job Role

To support the TIA operation by ensuring that all aircraft ground support equipment, hangar/office infrastructure and associated company property are maintained in a safe, legally compliant, and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

a) Maintenance of aircraft ground support equipment (GSE), including routine inspections, defect rectification and the co-ordination of required inspections as laid down in company procedures.

b) Maintaining the servicing records of all GSE.

c) Monitoring and controlling stocks of consumables such as diesel fuel, LPG, oils, and lubricants.

d) Direct liaison with the Shift Supervisor in respect of the daily serviceability status of aircraft GSE and cleaning requirement.

e) Minor maintenance and repair work on Company buildings, surrounds, car park, services, vehicles, and other equipment within his capability.

f) Direct liaison with the Administration Supervisor in respect of annual maintenance contracts for buildings, services, vehicles, and equipment including fire-fighting appliances and fire alarms systems. This is to include liaison with contractors and supervision whilst working on site.

g) At all times work within Company Procedures, SHE Standards, the Health and safety at Work Act and regulations pertaining to maintenance of buildings, electrical, heating and water systems.

h) Supervision of the Diamond contract cleaner when appropriate.

i) Liaison with the Site Services Manager (Bournemouth) and other relevant departments as required.

j) Other duties as required.

Core Competencies (Mandatory Competencies)

  • Recognised training and qualification in the maintenance of aviation related plant and equipment.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in the maintenance of aviation related plant and equipment.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety at Work Act especially relating to lifting equipment, pressure systems, hazardous substances and electrical systems.
  • Qualified operator of forklift truck, MEWP and /or cherry picker.
  • Experience of building maintenance and associated systems (water, drainage, electric, heating)

Desirable Competencies

• Ability to work unsupervised

• Qualified PAT Tester

• Good team worker

Key Measures

• All work conducted in accordance with the company SHE procedures and there are no serious accidents/injuries in the workplace.

• All work carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements and there are no serious non-compliance.
