Role purpose:

The Bid Manager takes a lead role in the generation of bids across the company, ensuring that the bid process is applied appropriately and consistently to all bids. The Bid Manager ensures that bids and proposals are developed in accordance with the Shipley disciplines. They are responsible for driving Draken’s Business Winning approach to preparing, writing and submitting proposals to deliver Draken’s Business Winning strategy. The Bid Manager will oversee all aspects of proposal preparation, ensuring that a high quality, compliant and compelling bid is submitted in accordance with customer requirements.

Responsibilities include:

Build and manage relationships with internal / external stakeholders to ensure all bids are prepared, managed and reviewed appropriately and in line with Draken policies and processes.

Developing the bid plan and managing resources and activity to achieve agreed milestone dates.

Participating in the formulation of bid strategies and ensuring that they are implemented in the bid.

Translate and apply the appropriate strategy for managing bids to mitigate risks and capitalise on opportunities within the bid.

Schedule and plan Gate Reviews and Proposal Reviews.

Qualifications / Experience:

Experience of working in Project Teams in a commercial environment, ideally Defence or Aerospace (or other high integrity industry)

Proven bid & proposal management track record of delivering high quality, persuasive proposals on time.

Experience of leading multi-disciplinary bid teams.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a complex bid environment.

Comprehensive experience and knowledge of the bid life cycle.

Personal Skills & Attributes:

Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with written presentation and report writing skills.

Excellent technical writing skills and the experience of generating compelling proposal content.

Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Expert user of MS Office applications.

Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Good working ethics and ability to treat documents with confidentiality.

Ability to work effectively within a team setting and to provide leadership when required to do so.

Competitive and proactive mindset, energetic and resilient.
