Design Engineer / Senior Design Engineer (Avionics)

Role purpose

The role supports the continued airworthiness, repairs and modifications of the Draken fleet and special projects. The role is responsible for providing designs for concept and integration of avionic and mission equipment to meet Customer requirements.  Tasks include the translation of proposed concepts into detailed designs in compliance with certification requirements.

Responsibilities include: 

Understand and interpret Customer requirements, facilitating a cost-effective design and production solution.

Ensure that design meets Customer and Certification requirements within a formal validation and verification process.

Produce detailed design in accordance with project milestones.

Support required testing and documented analysis of results.

Generate compliance substantiation reports as required.

Maintain technical competency and currency to ensure the effective use of latest technology.

Assist in developing mission requirements.

Assist, and liaise with, the Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) throughout the design

process on all design issues relating to airworthiness requirements.

Support the Project Team in the co-ordination, planning and control of the design data.

Skills/Experience

Have engineering knowledge and aircraft avionics systems knowledge – Required

Have an Engineering degree or Apprenticeship with appropriate experience – Required

Knowledge of Certification Specifications, CAA Part 21 and MAA DAOS regulations – Advantageous

Aircraft System and Software Safety Analysis processes – Advantageous

AutoCad or similar 2D electrical drawing package – Advantageous

Able to hold a Developed Vetting (DV) level security clearance – Required
