Flight Operations Technical Assistant

Draken Europe is recruiting a Flight Operations Technical Assistant at the operating base in Bournemouth International Airport in Hurn.

The aviation sector is highly regulated, with safety and compliance the highest priorities. Key Responsibilities

As FOTA you will

  • To maintain and control soft and hard copy suite of Operations Manuals using specialist software.
  • Manage the process for the update and distribution of the suite of Operations Manuals across the fleet of Company aircraft on the FR Aviation Ltd AOC.
  • Distribution of notices for Aircrew Information System.
  • System of control for distribution of Operations Manuals and DIAN system (audit trail for the regulator).
  • Track and report appropriate updates to the suite of Operations Manuals from the distribution list.
  • Maintain the Aircraft Flight Deck Check lists (Emergency and Abnormal Check List and Normal Check List).
  • Maintain/update/control of all Standard Operating Procedures Manuals for FR Aviation Ltd.
  • Maintain/update/control manuals on behalf of the Approved Training Organisation.
  • Tracking of Exemptions/Permissions held by FR Aviation Ltd.
  • Provide administrative assistance to members of the Flight Operations team (Senior Managers, Managers and Ground Ops personnel).
  • Induction material and uniform for new aircrew.
  • Manage the internal and external mail for Flight Operations, including distribution.
  • Any other duties that are requested by management within the capability of the incumbent.

Manage the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) as the EFB Administrator for all Fleets within Flight Operations:

  • Ensuring that any hardware conforms to the required specification, and all software applications installed on the EFB.
  • Ensuring that only a valid version of the application software and current data packages are installed on the EFB system.
  • Ensuring the integrity of the data packages used by the applications.
  • Control and tracking of company EFB devices including revision status.
  • Control the stock of backup EFB devices and coordinate the temporary replacement of devices as required.
  • Recording, responding to, and administering an effective system of feedback on the performance of the EFB, and any applicable software installed therein.
  • Engaging with Suppliers of hardware, software and databases as required in the development & administration of FR Aviation's EFB platform.
  • Coordination of all proposed additions, changes or amendments to EFB procedures with the nominated person for Flight Operations and IT or their deputies as applicable.
  • Ensuring that the EFB Administration Manual is updated and maintained in accordance with applicable regulations and mandatory/company standards.
  • Reporting of any issues identified to the nominated persons for Flight Operations and IT, as applicable

  • Educational/Vocational Qualifications

  • Essential: Good standard of written English with appropriate punctuation and accurate spelling

  • Desirable: Previous experience working with Electronic Fight Bags (EFBs)

  • Desirable: Professional administration qualification


  • Essential: PC/IT literate in at least Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, Excel
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Aviation Industry
  • Desirable: Experience of Adobe InDesign

Key Measures

  • Accuracy – ensure correspondence and other submitted work is accurate with good attention to detail.
  • Timely issuance of Operations Manual amendments and AIS notices.
  • Internal and external (regulator) audit findings closed to the satisfaction of the auditor within agreed timescale.
  • Compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Tracking and reporting DIAN returns.
  • Ability to work alone and use initiative.
