The Role
Draken Europe is currently recruiting for a VP Finance / Financial Controller on a 12month FTC (Maternity).
This role has substantial responsibility and accountability. Reporting directly to the CFO this position involves a broad spectrum of operational responsibilities and requires a wide range of knowledge and experience.
The VP Finance / Financial Controller is tasked with overseeing the extensive variety of duties undertaken by the finance department and is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all financial reporting and transactional processing.
The VP Finance / Financial Controller will work closely with the Senior Leadership team, including deputising for the CFO where required.
Key Responsibilities
Financial
• Responsible for timely and accurate delivery of all financial reporting, both internally and externally (for example, statutory accounts and banks); ensuring major contract and business performance is fully understood and clearly articulated
• Preparation of the monthly Board report and if required, attendance at Senior Leadership Team and Board meetings to support or deputise for the CFO
• Leading the budgeting, forecasting and planning process
• Overall cash management including forecasting; driving the right behaviours regarding cash and efficient use of working capital throughout the organisation
• Driving change across the Finance Department to improve and sustain the control environment and efficiency of processes
• Undertaking regular balance sheet reviews and ensure key controls are operating effectively
• Responsibility for overseeing all tax compliance, ensuring on-time filing globally
• Reviewing and approving the monthly payroll (three UK and six overseas payrolls)
• Supporting the team research technical accounting topics and leading the implementing of any required changes to policies and procedures to ensure compliance, including educating the finance team and wider business where necessary
People
• Lead the reporting, management accounting and transactional processing teams
• Building and owning relationships with key external parties such as Banks, Tax Authorities and External Auditors
• Working closely with other functions and operational colleagues, to drive continuous improvement in processes across the business by challenging the status quo and engaging to wider business to drive best practice
Experience / skills / qualifications
• CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified with at least five years post qualification experience
• Experience of reporting to the Board / Shareholders, both in writing and orally; able to present and communicate financial information to both Finance and non-Finance colleagues
• Proven ability to manage a team, driving development and team engagement
• Ability to understand complex, multi-faceted scenarios from a financial perspective
• Prepared to work flexibly to achieve deadlines and multi-task, re-adjusting priorities and delivering accordingly whilst demonstrating a strong teamwork ethic
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in cross-functional teams and to influence others at all levels of the organisation, applying healthy and vigorous challenge where appropriate
• Able to build excellent working relationships with colleagues and external parties alike
